June 16.  

SAN JOSE - ARENAL VOLCANO.   

AFTERNOON COFFEE /CHOCOLATE TOUR.

After breakfast, they prepare to leave for the Arenal Volcano area in La Fortuna de San Carlos. It is an area famous for the volcano and the hot springs. The volcano was active with daily eruptions until 2010, when it entered a calm phase. The hot springs that emanate from the Tabacón River are used by many hotels in the area for their visitors.

After checking in at your hotel, you will be picked up in the afternoon for a coffee and chocolate tour.

The tour begins at an organic coffee farm where the process of growing this product in Costa Rica is explained. They will also learn about the cultivation of the cocoa bush, from which chocolate is produced. The whole process is quite interesting and you will have the opportunity to do tastings and even buy products after the tour.

At the end of the afternoon they return to the Los Lagos hotel, their accommodation for the next four nights in standard rooms.

June 17.  

CANOPY TOUR / TIROLESAS Y SWING DE TARZAN.

Today they will go on a high adrenaline tour - the Arenal Adventure Canopy Tour.

After having breakfast at your hotel, you will be transferred to the Tarzan Swing Canopy - located just 30 minutes away. Upon arrival you will speak with your guide who will explain the tour. You will climb to the first platform at 90 feet high to begin the zip lines across 8 cables over 1 mile of rainforest/jungle. The tour will take you through 13 different platforms built on huge trees of great beauty with heights between 230 and 300 feet! They will fly along canyons, jungles and local farms.

Even though the adventure may sound a little risky, you can be sure of having the assistance of two professional guides. At the end of the tour you will reach the famous "Tarzan swing" and a surprise challenge.

The afternoon is free to enjoy your hotel and the hot springs. We will make recommendations of different restaurants where you can dine in La Fortuna.

June 18.  

SAFARI ADVENTURE IN THE PEÑAS BLANCAS RIVER.

The tour will take place aboard a raft along the Peñas Blancas River.

We will begin the tour by minibus for approximately 20 minutes until we reach the river, where the guides will give us the necessary instructions to carry out the tour, guarantee safety and thus enjoy an exceptional activity on the calm waters of the Peñas Blancas River, where we will go on safe rafts and stable.

We experienced a relaxed midday tour, led by bilingual naturalist guides and experts in river safari adventures; During the trip downriver we saw the beautiful flora and fauna of this region. We will encounter a variety of animals such as sloths, monkeys, alligators, turtles and beautiful tropical birds that could cross our path. We will have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious tropical fruit snack after the river tour, ending this great experience with return transportation to your hotel. Experience is not a requirement, our guides will give you the basic rules and the confidence to carry out the activity.

June 19.  

SLOTH BEAR TERRITORY.

One of the most beloved animals in our country is the popular Sloth, this animal that captivates us with its tenderness and peculiar slow behavior. We cannot deny it, we have envied their lives at some point in our lives.

The La Fortuna area is a unique place in the world when it comes to sloth watching, since our climate, protection, availability of food and practically the absence of predators make this area and especially this privileged property that we will visit a great little natural oasis. We have the option of enjoying the activity in the morning at 08:00 am, in the afternoon at 02:30 pm and at 05:30 pm as a night walk. Two-toed Sloths are most active at night so they are usually on the move.

e will pick you up at your hotel at the reserved time and begin this exciting journey to the Sloth Territory, which is located within a small family ecological project just 5 minutes from La Fortuna. The Project has a 1,500 meter trail suitable for adults, families and children of all ages. We will take a tour of approximately 2 hours through plants, a river bordering the property and of course the Guarumo trees cannot be missed, the Favorite food of the most emblematic animal of our tropical forest. During the tour we emphasized the importance of its protection, due to its growing popularity has led to an increase in the illegal trade of this species, which is why Ecoterra Expeditions, together with the Rodríguez family, managed to preserve a privileged space for its protection.

Our specialized Guides are experts in finding them, so we can guarantee their observation. We must remember that the sloth is a solitary animal and that most of its time it is sleeping and resting in the treetops. On the tour you can see two types of sloths: the two-toed sloth and the three-toed sloth; If we are lucky we will even be able to see the mother with her calf, an exciting experience. June 20.  

ARENAL VOLCANO - SAN JOSE. LEAVE THE COUNTRY.

Today they have a full day in the Arenal volcano area. You can shop for souvenirs, visit the town of La Fortuna, or take a hike. Check out is at 11 am, but a permit will be requested from the hotel so that they can remain in the facilities until the end of the afternoon when the driver will arrive and take them back to the Juan Santamaría International Airport for their night flight back to home. On the way to the airport, you will stop at a local restaurant to have dinner on your own before arriving at the airport.
